| Video Discription | Margin and Maintenance are important to always keep in mind when trading futures, especially because failing to do so could lead to a dreadful "Margin Call." In this video, we explain the concepts of margin and maintenance with an analogy from Reddit's ELI5 group. When trading futures, we will most likely be using margin because it allows us to trade futures contracts that are so valuable that it would require a lot of initial capital to accomplish this. Margin allows us to trade these contracts/assets with less initial capital, creating what is known as leverage. However, we need to always keep in mind that margin = risk, and the more use of margin means more risk in your trades.
