Various black and white aerials of bomb explosions STORYLINE: A senior U-S Airforce officer says officials believe several hundred enemy fighters have been killed since Operation Anaconda began in eastern Afghanistan last week. Brigadier General John Rosa of the U-S Air Force told a Pentagon news conference that U-S officials estimate "a couple of hundred" enemy fighters are still holding out near Gardez. He said the number of U-S soldiers wounded in action since the battle began on March 2 had grown to about 50, but he had no details. The confirmed toll of coalition deaths remains at eight U-S servicemen and three Afghans. In Afghanistan, government troops and tanks rushed to the battle zone on Friday to bolster U-S-led coalition forces fighting the remaining pockets of al-Qaida militants.
