I talked to DJ Drama and Don Cannon at A3C, a 3-day festival in Atlanta, GA, regrouping the older and new generation around concerts and conferences. This interview happened a few weeks before Lil Uzi Vert's beef with DJ Drama.

After sharing their knowledge on stage, we talked about the influence of their new label, Generation Now, on the kids, especially with the signature of Lil Uzi Vert and now Jack Harlow.
We also talked about the early days of their career, moving from Philadelphia to Atlanta, the Dedication mixtapes with Lil Wayne and how they met, T.I., the Urban Legend Tour, and more.

Hey what up? I'm DJ Drama
and I'm Metro Boomin's father, Don Cannon
and we're moving the bitches to get out of the way...
Damn, I fucked up! I forgot what I was!
*laughs*
So what are you guys doing here at A3C ?
They asked us to clean up after everybody was leaving,so you know we just gotta [...] we
just emptied out the trash cans in the back and yeah...
Cannon is gonna give me the real answer!
I'm gonna call to Ubers and make sure
everybody gets home tonight that's what I'm doing.
No, we talked to the people, we
talked about streaming as he said before we talked about engagement, branding and becoming the best successful producers and artists you could be.
You guys have been around, you're some of the few people that really stayed relevant for
all those years, coming from the mixtapes
Gangsta Grillz, and now managing artists like Lil Uzi Vert through Generation Now.
How do you make it happen? How do you stay relevant?
I mean, thank you first and foremost but you know we love what we do.
I feel like you know now that we've kind of created our history, made names for ourselves it's almost just about challenging ourselves and you know keeping the fun into it you know and like just understanding the blessings that we have every day when we wake up and are thankful that you know we're able to provide for ourselves and our family [...]
Very quickly, Cannon, both of you guys moved from Philly to Atlanta at the time.
What pushed that move, what was the motivation at the time?
Initially, I went to school, him too, too but we didn't know we was coming to school and shake up what we called the scene in Atlanta to help...
I mean it was just a fun move for me I was supposed to stay and go to Community College
Somebody kicked me in the ass and was like your gotta take your ass down to Atlanta with your family
And you know that's how it turned out you know I never knew that
"Snap, the music scene is crazy". I fell right into it.
Going back to Gangsta Grillz, the Dedication series is the one that really put you, put Lil Wayne on the map in France.
How did you make the link-up?
I was actually on the tour bus with T.I. at the time we were on the Urban Legend tour and Tip was on the phone with Wayne. I was in my bunk and I heard he was talking to Wayne and I was like "Yo, let me holla at him"
So me and Wayne got on the phone, we didn't know each other and you know I mean we knew of each other obviously but I was like "Yo, it's time, let's get one in" and he was like "Bet, let's do it"
So around that time you know I was...
It was right after "Trap or Die" so I was like "Man how am I gonna top this?"
Not to say that it was topped, but you know Dedication also went down in history as classic mixtape series and you know the rest is pretty much history
