| Video Discription | Golden Queen Mining Company’s Soledad Mountain Project, a narrow vein-hosted gold/silver deposit, has reduced ore loss and dilution through blast movement monitoring. Blast movement monitors are installed at mid-bench locations, horizontal movement vectors are calculated, and pre-blast ore polygons are translated to post-blast locations. In one example of a monitored blast, the entire ore block moved by 4.5 –10.5 ft. Although this movement was modest, such a displacement without tracking would have resulted in an estimated 3% (~4,000 tons) ore loss as a result of ore migrating into a waste block.
