| Video Discription | After revealing that Jiang Jun was based on the real general Guan Yu, everyone asked me to discuss the historical background of Guan Yu and who he was. I put it off for a while because I wanted to make sure I had all my facts straight and because I figured someone might already have done it for me. But after more people began asking when I was going to do it, I decided to finally sit down and discuss Guan Yu's history. This is the first of a three part series called Guan Yu: China's Greatest General. I want to state first and foremost that I'm aware of many other great Chinese generals and warlords besides Guan Yu, but I'm of the belief that greatness is not how many victories you win but by how you're remembered and respected long after your death. Guan Yu is DEFINITELY well remembered and respected even two thousand years after his death. So I'm more than happy to talk about this amazing man and the things he did to help shape China's history! |
