| Video Discription | The origins of the Indian populations have been debated since the the late 19th century. Indian populations were considered by many early anthropologists to be pristine examples of an admixture of East and West Eurasia, and beyond. Despite over 150 years of research and study, opinion over the extent of shared history with other populations throughout the region is far from decided. This talk will explore the genetic studies and evidence for a shared population history and evolutionary convergence both in East and West Eurasia. About the Speaker: Dr. Gyaneshwar Chaubey is a professor at Banares Hindu University, Varanasi. His research is focused on the peopling of South and Southeast Asia in general.
