| Video Discription | As my kids get older and their appreciation for food gets stronger, I feel the need to teach them what to buy, how to shop and how to plan out their meals. So I brought them along on this week’s grocery haul at HEB. I printed off a shopping list that I created on the HEB app, and I handed them each a couple of sheets with different items listed by category. I let them grab a grocery cart and shop independently. Of course I was just a few aisles over, but it was up to them to substitute anything from that list that was out of stock or they couldn’t find. It was almost like a game. My middle child did get frustrated a bit when she was unsure. I recommend trying this experiment with older kids. In the end, they learned the value of food and learned what to look for as far as quality goes. They all love to cook and bake, so they will get to use some of these items they shopped in some recipes they create! |
