Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain, but if you have heel pain that is not improving then you may not have plantar fasciitis at all. In this video, Dr. Larry Huppin of the Seattle Heel Pain Center discusses the causes and treatment options for chronic pain in the heel and stubborn plantar fasciitis. Stubborn and chronic heel pain is usually very treatable once the underlying cause is determined. Often heel pain doesn’t get better because of a condition called plantar fasciosis. Unlike plantar fasciitis, plantar fasciosis is a thickening and scarring of the plantar fascia. Other reasons that heel pain does not improve include nerve entrapments, stress fractures and abnormal foot mechanics.
