| Video Discription | This is the moment one of Russia’s largest artillery cannons was blown up by HIMARS. Drone footage captures the 2S7 Pion cannon being hit by a GMLRS rocket. The missile is packed with tungsten ball-bearings, designed to shred nearby targets. Which can be seen on the video, as a circular cloud of dust that appears near the gun. But the ball-bearings aren’t needed here, as the rocket hits with extreme precision. The Pion explodes into a fireball before the ammunition begins burning. It is unclear exactly where or when the strike took place. But Ukraine has made targeting Russian artillery a priority of its counter-attack. When the war began, Russia had a two artillery guns for every one Ukrainian. During the Donbas campaign last summer, that increased to 10 to one.
