| Video Discription | Lips often are centre point of most men and women. Sometimes dark pigmentation could be associated with smoking and it could also be associated with recurrent biting of the lips. Drinking a lot of tea and coffee which stains the lips can cause this. Use of tinted lip balms and lipsticks can cause pigmentation. If you are allergic to certain medicines they could also cause pigmentation of the lips and gums. These are true for antibiotics and iron medications. Sometimes we can get pigmentation associated with medical conditions. You have to avoid the regular ones like smoking and taking too much coffee and tea and use of pigmented lip balms. Use a lip balm with a sunscreen in it. Make sure that you use it regularly. Drink a lot of water and avoid peeling of the lip with your teeth or your nails. If you feel that if with these treatments there is no improvement you can go and seek the dermatologist who can recommend a treatment called the chemical peel or a Q switch Nd-YAG laser both of which reduce the pigmentation of the lip. However if you have a medical condition underlying it you might need to continue the treatment on and off to keep the lips healthy and pink. |
