| Video Discription | July 04, 2024 - Alfred's All-in-One (Level 1) - The Cuckoo (012/15.00/39.00) Introduction of the D7 chord. In this piece, the tempo was "Happily". I set the tempo to 220 because that was what 'happily' felt to me when playing the notes. I did two runs of this piece actually. My pinky fingers are weak so even though I did practice this at the fast tempo quite a bit, I still had trouble getting the D7 chord with my left hand. On the first run, I somewhat missed the F# and I struggled trying to get on the tempo. Since the piece was short, I just rested a couple measures and tried again without interrupting the recording with the intention of editing it out. The second run was much better since I had basically had just completed a 'practice run'. I kept both runs in to see how more confident I was with the second run. The other part of this piece is the in the playing of the slur and lifting of the hand to reset. When I first tried to figure out how this was supposed to sound, the reading of the slur did not register in my mind. I have never played a measure with this kind of fast tempo yet. So when I worked it at a much slower tempo, it was not feeling right. It was not until I lifted the hand off the third beat that it came together and I figured out how I was supposed to play it until I found tempo that made me feel happily. ---------- (Voice: CFX Grand) (Tempo 220 BPM) |
