| Video Discription | The Huay Xai Story | Jom Khao Manilat Temple in Laos Huay Xai is a one horse town really. The town use to welcome the boats full of tourists from Thailand, just across the Mighty Mekong River, but now the Tourists arrive in Huay Xai via the Friendship Bridge, and by bus. Xhay Xai is a pretty little town, but apart from the Jom Khao Manilat Temple, the only other reasons to visit, is to cross the boarder with Thailand or to take a slow boat down river to Luang Prabang. The Jom Khao Manilat Temple is designed in the Shan style and was made wholly of teak, way back in 1880. In 1548, the Chaing Kong prince of that time contributed a stele-house to the temple, which still stands here. You can take in the views of the town of Huay Xai and overlook the Mekong River from the top of the temple.
