| Video Discription | PRESS: JTA, Times of Israel, and Arutz Sheva: Because of Sephardic Heritage International SHIN-DC’s hard work, DC declared an official Mimouna day to celebrate end of Passover. On April 16, 2023, over 1,000 people joined SHIN-DC and the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art for DC's Mimouna Festival of Good Neighbors at the Smithsonian. We received welcoming remarks from cultural attachés Ms. Michal Ofek from the Embassy of Israel and Ms. Fatima Aboulfaraj from the Embassy of Morocco, as well as Ms. Julie Norris from the DC Mayor's Office. We were also graced with the attendance of Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, US Special Envoy to Combat and Monitor Antisemitism, and dignitaries from various Embassies and the Community. Most importantly, DC showed up and showed out! Thanks to our star Shir Malka Ifrah and the Sahara Band District Ensemble! Many thanks to Mayor Muriel Bowser, event sponsor DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, our Mimouna Committee, community partners, and volunteers.
