| Video Discription | Bangalore, officially known as Bengaluru, is the capital city of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It's the largest city in the state, with a population exceeding 8 million, making it India's third most populous city and the fourth most populous urban agglomeration. Bangalore is renowned for its pleasant climate, extensive parks, and vibrant green spaces, earning it the nickname "Garden City of India." Situated on the Deccan Plateau at an elevation of over 900 meters above sea level, it boasts the highest elevation among India's major cities. The city's history traces back to around 890 CE, with significant growth under the Vijayanagara Empire's Kempe Gowda I in 1537. Post the empire's decline, Bangalore saw various rulers, including the Mughals and the Kingdom of Mysore, until the British East India Company took control in the 18th century. Post-independence, Bangalore merged its town and cantonment to form a unified urban center in 1949. Today, it's a major global metropolis, known as the "Silicon Valley of India" for its leading role in the nation's IT industry. It's also a hub for aerospace, defense organizations, and a host of research institutions. Bangalore's name, interestingly, has evolved over time, with its current official name, Bengaluru, adopted in 2006 to reflect its historical roots.
