Father Stan’s death has been termed a “permanent black mark” on India’s human rights record by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, and his persecution has been condemned by multiple actors, including: 1) The US State Department 2) Lawmakers in the US, UK, and the European Parliament 3) UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights Defenders Mary Lawlor 4) United States Commission on International Religious Freedom As well as international human rights organizations, and in over a hundred newspapers all around the world including widespread coverage in Indian TV and print media, as well as in the New York Times, the Guardian, the Washington Post, and leading newspapers in at least twenty countries. Most recently, Father Stan was honored by the prestigious 2022 Martin Ennals Award in Geneva. |
