The US aims to boost the production of homegrown chips as the global race for semiconductors heats up. President Joe Biden, in a statement, has said that "America invented these chips, but over time, we went from producing nearly 40% of the world’s capacity to close to 10%, and none of the most advanced chips." Washington has reportedly set aside $50 billion in an effort to boost production of semiconductor chips. However, China remains its biggest competitor, is determined to catch up.
