| Video Discription | Flipped learning is an educational approach that is turning our thoughts on effective instruction on its head. This innovative approach aims to deliver education content before the learner attends the face-to-face teaching session. By saving time on the introduction of a new concept or information, the educator can use class-time to delve deeper into the topic. The flipped content should always cover part of your session’s learning objectives, usually the lower order cognitive skills, such as remember or understand the new information. The pre-session content can take many forms such as reading materials or digital learning objects like videos, podcast, website etc. Advantages to this approach are many, it allows the learner access to information at a time, speed and location that is suitable for them to attempt to comprehend the content. However, the main advantage to flipped learning is in the opportunity for a deeper learning experience in the face-to-face teaching session. By building on prior-knowledge gained outside the session, learners can apply, analyse, evaluate and create in the session, to expand their understanding through active learning activities such as debates, case-studies, peer instruction, team or problem-based learning etc. |
