If you’ve used a modern Android phone, then you've likely experienced the always-on display feature and you know why they're convenient. However, this is a first when it comes to the iPhone, and as Apple typically does, they're doing it differently - and in my opinion, better - than you've ever seen it done before. Always on display technology allows a phone to display basic info like the date, time, and notifications even when it’s locked and resting on a table. Typically, your whole display doesn’t remain on, just the pixels needed to display that data. But Apple is changing up that entire formula. Instead of an always-on display that’s mostly turned off with just a few pixels lit up, Apple’s always-on screen remains on fully, just a lot dimmer. iOS 16 was released this past Monday, and a huge part of the update focuses on deep lock screen screen customization, including the addition of widgets. On the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, not only will all of those widgets remain visible on the always-on display, but your lock screen wallpaper - in full color - will remain.
