| Video Discription | I created this original to see how far I could take the concept of the old fashioned and push it. Partly inspired by you guys here on YouTube and our discussions on this category and reading about everyone's favorite Old Fashioned variations and partly by my discussions with Cole's General Manager Bryan Tsetsorakis the idea for this drink came into being. Years ago I worked for Jack Daniels at an event and had created a drink called Lemmy Ressurected and tried for a Jack and Coke Old Fashioned and while it was good, there was something in it that was missing. The coke syrup I used was made from scratch and is quite different to my approach here. If you want to see the video on that syrup you can do so here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0lRsKcRWm8 I want to warn you guys that this drink is on the sweeter side, it is probably the "sweetest" drink I have yet tried, but I am hoping that within that sweetness you will find the balance and nuance of flavor. Either way it was a great exercise in trying to push the boundaries within the construct of a cocktail I hope you enjoy it! Also a quick note: Careful when you choose your PX Sherry as it has a lot of variations in flavor brand to brand. You can find that here: https://www.patreon.com/theeducatedbarfly Here's The Specs: 1.5oz (45ml) Jack Daniels .25oz (7.5ml) Pedro Ximénez Sherry .25oz (7.5ml) Fernet Branca .5oz (15ml) Mexican Coke Reduction Orange Twist. To Make Mex. Coke Reduction: take 36oz (1065ml) put into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling lower heat to simmer and simmer until reduced to 1/6th it's size or 6oz (177ml), bottle and store in fridge. Lasts almost indefinitely. |
