The Tata Group broke a nearly two-decade silence with their latest IPO, and the JSW Group returned to the market after a 13-year gap. Now, the excitement continues to build as reports suggest the next legacy business house gearing up for an IPO could be none other than Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio. Here's what you need to know about the upcoming mega IPO: If Reliance Jio makes its stock market debut, it is set to be the largest listing in India’s history, surpassing the record held by state-owned Life Insurance Corporation of India. Current regulations mandate that companies valued at Rs 1 lakh crore or more must sell at least 5% of their shares during an IPO. According to Jefferies, Jio is valued at a staggering $133 billion or approximately Rs 11.11 lakh crore. A 5% stake sale would bring the IPO to around Rs 55,000 crore, easily eclipsing LIC’s Rs 21,000 crore IPO. Jio, India’s largest telecom provider, recently announced a significant tariff hike, increasing the prices of its prepaid plans by up to 25%. This move was quickly followed by similar price hikes from competitors Airtel and Vodafone Idea. Along with the price increase, Jio shifted its unlimited 5G benefit to premium plans offering users 2GB or more data per day. These strategic changes aim to boost Jio's average revenue per user (ARPU), a key metric that is likely to make its shares more attractive to investors. Industry experts believe these developments signal that Jio is gearing up for its IPO. An official announcement might be made at the Reliance Industries annual general meeting next month. The market has responded positively to this potential IPO. On July 8, Reliance Industries' stock reached a new lifetime high of Rs 3,217 on the NSE, emerging as the top contributor among Nifty50 stocks. Over the past month, the stock has surged nearly 9%, outperforming the Nifty’s four-and-a-half percent rally.
