Gear Lust is my take on filmmaking gear reviews and the system behind it. Black Magic Design should have just stayed with BMPCC 4K and developed a camera to the best of their ability. Many filmmakers, including myself, can’t wait for the Red Komodo camera. While I know Davinci Resolve is an amazing color grading program, but many people are happy with FCPX or Adobe Premier. Being forced to change NLE to edit B-Raw is another issue. Canon should have given the EF EOS-R mount to Black Magic for the Pocket 6K. Instead, the youtube creators are being seduced to switching. They want to use their EF lenses on a camera that’s somewhat worth it. The Crimson Engine is looking, Potato Jet is about to start looking and Matti Haapoja is exciting for the EF- Mount. I wonder how Peter McKinnon will feel about the EF-Mount and the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. I got a feeling he might go in a different direction.
