| Video Discription | This is a short video from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar movie. Kalaram Mandir, built in 1790 by Sardar Odhekar of Peshwa. The temple is made by complete black stones ,hence the name. Harijans were not allowed inside the temple.In 1930, Dr. Ambedkar performed Satyagraha, to allow the entry of Harijans into the temple.It was only in the year 1930, after the Satyagraha of Dr. Ambedkar, that Harijans were allowed to enter its premises Dr. Ambedkar said ...... I started temple entry Satyagraha only because I felt that was the best way of energizing th Depressed Classes and making them conscious of their position. As I believe I have achieved that purpose I have no more use for temple entry. I want the Depressed Classes to concentrate their energy and resource on politics and education and I hope that they will realise the importance of both. |
