| Video Discription | Gurazada Venkata Apparao (1862–1915) was a Telugu poet and writer. He wrote the first Telugu play, Kanyasulkam, which is often considered the greatest play in the Telugu language. Gurajada Apparao was an influential social reformer of his age and was lauded as Mahakavi, meaning "the great poet". Kanyasulkam is a Telugu play written by Gurazada Apparao in 1892. It is one of the earliest modern works in an Indian vernacular language, and it is the first Telugu play to deal with social issues. The play portrays the practice of Kanya-sulkam (roughly translates to bride price) which was common among the priestly Brahmins in Telugu-speaking areas of southern India. Controversial in its time, this play continues to be one of the most popular Telugu literary works of all time. A number of expressions used by Gurazada in this play are still popular in modern-day Telugu. Gollapudi Maruti Rao is an Indian film actor, theatre actor, screenwriter, dramatist, playwright, and dialogue writer known for his works in Telugu Cinema, Theatre arts and Telugu Literature. He has acted in over 230 Telugu films. His noted literary works and plays, like Rendu Rellu Aaru, Patita, Karuninchani Devatalu, Mahanatudu, Kaalam Venakku Tirigindi, Aasayaalaku Sankellu, have won numerous State Awards.Rao was also known for his works in All India Radio and Journalism, for over two decades. His play was included in the Master of Arts (Telugu literature) curriculum of Osmania University. This work was translated into all Indian languages by the National Book Trust, under the Aadaan Pradaan programme. Started a musical company by name "Sukumar Orchestra". Worked as an editor for telugu magazines: Jyoti and Vanitha and also for the telugu film magazine: Vijaya Chitra. Wrote for the column: Chitravalliyam. Worked for the TV serial Kanyasulkam in Hyderabad. Jayalalita is a popular south Indian character actor, who acted in a number of Telugu movies. She is popular in support roles, particularly romantic and comedy roles. She has also acted in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi movies.
