| Video Discription | The BJP is predicted to win 23-26 Lok Sabha seats of the total 28 in Karnataka, which voted in two phases on April 26 and May 7, according to News18 Mega Exit Poll released on June 1 evening. The INDIA bloc, which comprises the ruling Congress in the state, could win 3-7 seats, the exit poll predicted. The two major contesting alliances in Karnataka are the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA). While the majority of the candidates from the NDA are from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — 25, a smaller portion of the candidates belong to the Janata Dal (Secular) party [JD(S)] — 3. On the other hand, all of the 28 candidates representing the INDIA bloc are from the Indian National Congress (INC). Stakes are high for the JDS after a disappointing performance in last year’s assembly elections, where it secured only 19 seats. The party’s survival and political stature within Karnataka must succeed in these elections.
