Continuing what has been a great year of releases, IAHG follow up the brilliant ‘Space Powder’ EP by BlakSpun (Blakkat & DJ Spun) with an EP of fresh rolling Chicago grooves from young-gun Kid Enigma. ‘The Blessing of Ipseity’ EP features five tracks all built around 808 and 909 beats with four of them featuring verses and hooks from Kid Enigma himself. Ranging from moody 3am head-nodders to percussion-rich, relentless house grooves, all of them epitomizing aspects of the IAHG sound. Put together with love and devotion, Kid Enigma’s only motivation is, as he says “...unifying people on the dance floor…” To this end, he has served up an EP where the beats draw on a Chi-Town culture “…of friendly unspoken competition between Chicago DJs and their live sets” and the “percussion you may hear on the streets downtown”. The result is a set of dance floor-friendly tracks, full of swing, boom bass and jacking beats.
