The kitchen sink drain assembly consists of the removable sink basket and the kitchen sink strainer, which is the bottom part of the drain assembly, and it has the flange on it. Then you remove the long drain pipe from the bottom of the kitchen sink drain by unscrewing the retaining nut. Leak under kitchen sink Is your kitchen sink leaking under rubber gasket? Then you can repair the leaky sink by using a universal drain basket wrench to remove the drain nut, then you pull the gasket and the cardboard friction washer, and push up the kitchen sink drain assembly from below, and it will pop up through the top side of the kitchen sink. Now there will be no more leak under kitchen sink, and that is how to remove kitchen sink drain flanges. Next you install the new kitchen sink drain flange, and go underneath to install the rubber gasket, then the cardboard washer, and finally the drain basket nut.
