From 1619 to 1863, they were stripped of everything related to being human: their culture, their history, childhoods, family ties, etc. These people were kidnapped, transported to a foreign land as FREE laborers and reduced to the status of livestock. Forbidding reading at any cost, was one of the systematic methods to control the slaves. We still see the same influences in modern day school systems all around America. After 20 generations of slavery, African Americans produced the only non-white male to the position of President of the United States of America. |
