| Video Discription | This is another video in a series of videos on DIY home lab construction and DIY chemical solutions and formulas and equipment. Today I am making simple glass labware by calibrating jars to make volumetric labware. I used a scale and a thermometer to accurately make marks on glass jars to turn them into volumetric beakers and flasks. Nearly all glass labware is made from borosilicate glass which does not expand or crack easily, unlike most other glass you will have available to you at home. If you do not need to heat your homemade glass labware or expose it to procedures that will cause it to rapidly contract or expand you can use it for many home lab uses. I like ball canning jars because they often come with markings to provide accurate measurement and can take simple heating in a water bath and also they can be used as light duty vacuum jars when modified.
