This herbal spice blend is delicious. It's also highly nutritious and supportive of your body's liver and other organs. If you're interested in helping natural detoxification processes and supporting a healthy liver...all while you cook foods and meals in your kitchen, you need to take a look at this blend and make it for yourself. It's EASY too!
The spices and herbs I've included in this special tonic blend include mineral rich herbs that directly help the liver function as well as aromatic herbs to support your overall wellness! Here's the recipe, as well as a bit about why I chose each herb:
Nettle Leaf Powder (Urtica dioica): I chose nettle leaf because it is not only liver and kidney supportive, it's also one of the most nutritious herbs you can add to your diet!
Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum): Milk thistle is THE premier liver supportive herb. Unfortunately, it's not bioavailable in water infusions (teas), however it sure does the body great in an herbal spice blend. Herbalist K.P.Khalsa recommends ingesting about a tablespoon a day of the seeds or about 1/2 tbsp of the powder.
Garlic (Allium sativum): Garlic is a pungent aromatic herb that acts on the body in many helpful ways, including heart health and boosting the immune system. When used in culinary amounts, as in this spice blend, there are no contraindications. However, if you are taking garlic in large amounts, please check with your doctor, as it has blood thinning properties.
Black Pepper (Piper nigrum): Black pepper is another pungent herb with stimulating properties to help the compounds in the other herbs go to work. It's also warming and soothing, perfect for these winter months.
Rosemary and Sage: I included Rosemary (Rosemarinus officinalis) and Sage (Salvia spp.) because of their tastes, as well as their benefits. They both blend well with the garlic and black pepper, and they balance the "green" taste of the nettle well. Milk Thistle is fairly tasteless, so no extra effort is required there.

The Recipe:

2 tbsp Milk Thistle
1 1/2 tbsp Rosemary
1 1/2 tbsp Sage
1 tbsp Garlic
1 tbsp Black Pepper
1/2 tbsp Sea Salt
All these herbs are powders. Simply blend together and use liberally in your cooking! Yummy and healthy!
