Sarees are woven only on pit looms making the weaver to produce saree without much gaps. The yarn is then woven into beautiful sarees with dense zari border and zari pallu. These sarees have plain body in vibrant colours. Sungudi sarees are traditional cotton sarees from Madurai, Tamil Nadu. These are centuries old sarees woven in tie and dye process. The fabric is bleached initially and various motifs are handblock printed. Motifs are usually in Bandhani which is one of the unique features of this saree.
