| Video Discription | There are no simple words to describe this extraordinary place, which is much more than just a fascinating sight. Its history starts some 12 000 years ago, when it is believed its first inhabitants came. The life in the Sassi (the dwellings built into caves sloping downhill) was tough throughout the centuries and was still so until as late as in the 1960's. We visit a former home, today a museum, which gives an idea of how people used to live, and we get to listen to the performance of a traditional song accompanied by an old local instrument. Our visit was really memorable and if you get to visit this unique city, we do recommend you take a guided tour. It surely enriched our knowledge and the whole experience as such. If you are in Basilicata, this is surely the place to visit. Or when in Bari, as it takes only about an hour's drive.
