| Video Discription | It's so hard to end a relationship, especially for women. We're taught to be selfless and always consider everyone else first. We're socialized to be codependent, to sacrifice our wants and needs to please others. So we're not really codependent, we're just conforming to the ways our culture expects us to. Society has taught us to defer to others and to be nurturing to others first. It disempowers us. Our gender roles are causing us harm. We blame ourselves for the demise of our relationships and bend ourselves into knots and try everything possible before finally choosing what's best for ourselves, because we don't want to hurt anyone or be so selfish. It's really painful to choose differently and defy expectations, but it's only logical to choose what's most loving of ourselves first. We must include ourselves in the compassion we give so freely to others. Sometimes breaking up is to choose what's most loving of you first. We'd want this for anyone we love, for them to do what's most loving of themselves. Why not do this for ourselves, too? ♡ Creating a loving relationship with yourself.
