Law enforcement has every incentive to find you guilty because that's what they're paid to do. Every successful conviction is a notch on their belt. The more convictions they get, the better position they're in to move up the ranks. โ #2: It's a command-driven system. The culture in the military is one of good order and discipline. So naturally, anyone in command is going to perpetuate that ethos. There's a lot of pressure to be tough on crime. โ #3: Prosecutors gotta prosecute. If you're a prosecutor in the military, your job is to prosecute criminals. A pattern of failing or choosing not to prosecute creates an assumption that you're not doing your job. โ #4: The conflict of interest is real in jury selection. Your jury panel is selected by the convening authorityโthe very same person who's trying to charge you. Not to mention the military doesn't do unanimous verdicts, so even if the jury members don't all agree, you could still be convicted.
