| Video Discription | Single to 3 phase converter - Milling machine Relay switches the start capacitor out of circuit and connects the run capacitor which is of lower capacitance. There are many circuit diagrams available online for this setup, or a timer circuit could be used. Start cap only needs to be on for less than a second. The capacitor effectively phase shifts the sine wave of the single phase by 90 degrees (lag), providing the rotational force. For really awesome converters, an inductor could be placed across the third side of the delta connection to provide 90 degrees lead. I'm led to believe this is a bit harder to get right. |
