| Video Discription | In December 2015 IVN Natuureducatie invited TED-talk speaker Shubhendu Sharma to the Netherlands for a special initiative: we planted our very first Tiny Forest. Together with Sharma, the municipality of Zaandam, Hoek Gardener, school children and local residents we planted the first Tiny Forest, right in the center of the town Zaandam. A Tiny Forests® is a densely packed native forests, that fits into the size of a tennis court. The forest is not just an pleasant spot for butterflies, birds, bees and small mammals; it is a great place for people too. In the outdoor classroom, children learn about nature and it also serves as a meeting place for the local community.
