"The Monster Walks" (1932), directed by Frank R. Strayer, is a horror film featuring Mischa Auer, Martha Mattox, and Rex Lease. Set in a gloomy mansion during a stormy night, the story revolves around Ruth Earlton, who returns home following her father's death to claim her inheritance. Unbeknownst to her, danger lurks within the house as a menacing killer ape roams free. Amidst the eerie atmosphere and suspicious characters, Ruth must uncover the mystery and survive the night. The film capitalizes on the classic "old dark house" trope, combining suspense and terror in a chilling, claustrophobic setting. This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1963, and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed.
