| Video Discription | This beautiful stone monument stands inside the Mendut Monastery in Central Java, Indonesia, not far from the city of Yogyakarta and the famous Borobudur and Prambanan Temple. We asked the Buddhist monks about the origin of this megalithic structure and they told us that this is the oldest statue in the monastery but they don't know its age. They say it has been there for a very long time. The top stone must have been very important to the ancient builders and it looks very special. The stones that form the ancient staircase, have all irregular shapes and sizes which makes the construction very complicated and difficult. Why do we keep on seeing this masonry style at ancient places all over the world? We can observe the same style at various locations in Egypt such as the Temple next to the Sphinx by the Pyramids of Giza, Peru, Mexico, Turkey, Greece and many other megalithic structures. Is it possible that these ancient civilizations had a connection?
