STORYLINE:
A French government flight carrying 77 people who were caught up in the deadly attacks in Mumbai, India, has landed in Paris on Saturday.
Relatives and friends waited to greet the passengers aboard the Republic of France plane including Olivier Chaillat, whose daughter Kate was caught in the crossfire of the Leopold's Caf�.
He said she telephoned him to tell him what happened, and described the situation in the caf� which involved a "kid with a Kalashnikov or an AK47".
Relatives hugged and cried when they greeted each other.
The head of the European Parliamentary mission, Spanish MEP Ignasi Guardans thanked the French government for organising the plane.
Speaking in Italian, he expressed gratitude to the French presidency for arranging the safe arrival of his delegation in Paris.
Kate Chaillat did not want to speak on camera when she arrived at the airport in Paris, but tearfully hugged her father.
A Polish woman working on a yacht in Mumbai said she was outside the Taj hotel when she heard explosions.
France's European Affairs minister, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, greeted the Airbus A310 passenger plane at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport around midday Saturday.
The passengers were then going on to board connecting flights to cities across Europe.
The Foreign Ministry says the jet carried 29 French, 17 Spanish and 19 Italians, in addition to citizens of Germany, Poland, Kazakhstan, Greece, the Netherlands, Congo, Switzerland and Algeria.
The special flight had arrived in Mumbai on Friday, carrying three doctors and consular reinforcements to help people who may have lost their ID papers in the attacks.
