My older brother, Jacob, who was my best friend and someone I looked up to in every way, lost his life in a car accident at the age of 23. I can remember that night so vividly. Police officers were standing at the front door and I knew in that moment that something had gone wrong. I walked into the living room and my parents were in complete and total despair. That night I heard God's voice so clear and He spoke to me for the first time. He said, "Anne, are you going to trust me or not?" I answered, "Jesus, I trust you." In an instant, Jesus lifted the heavy weight off and told me that He would give me everything I need to get through this. Journaling became a part of my healing process. Jesus began to show me that He was a personal God. Before I knew it, I was turning those journal entires into songs. As I was writing one day, I looked back into my journal and I realized that I never wrote "Jesus," "God" or "Lord." I always wrote "My Jesus" and that's what inspired me to write this song.
