The decision was taken to increase the charges just three weeks after the highway was opened to the public. The news of a 22-23% toll fee hike came as a shock to many commuters, which was to be effective from April 1. BJP MP Pratap Simha requested Centre and Nitin Gadkari to roll back the new charges as it would be a burden to the people using the highway. After the rollback, he thanked the Centre.
