| Video Discription | #mybridgertonscore "It is my great pleasure" to enter Spitfire Audio's scoring competition this year. I am hugely appreciative of the opportunity these contests offer to practice scoring to picture using clips from actual productions and to listen to and learn from the wide array of approaches all the other composers who enter use to bring the visuals to life through their music. I chose to view subtlety as a virtue here, as my inclination is usually to add way more elements than are actually needed and I wanted the music to the visuals and dialogue rather than being at the forefront. Accordingly, I selected a small group of solo instruments - A standard string quartet supplemented by double bass, bassoon, horn, and piano - and at every stage utilized only as many of them at a time as was strictly necessary. In the concluding scene, for example, I ended up keeping the original piano sketch rather than orchestrating more fully as I felt that the piano alone did the best job of creating the tone I was after.
