General Manoj Pande is retiring after a 26-month tenure, having served as the 29th Chief of Army Staff since April 20, 2022, succeeding General Mukund Narvane. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, General Manoj Pande was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers) in December 1982. Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi will assume the role of the 30th Chief of the Army Staff on June 30.
