| Video Discription | On several occasions this month, I've witnessed trains taking alternate routings through Reading among the regular freights. You'll see these trains plus a local with conrail power and some more shots of the secluded mile 53. First up is train 20W, a high priority intermodal, at Wyomissing. Although this train normally takes the connector down to the Reading line, it surprisingly stays on the #1 track and is routed over the Lebanon Valley branch into Reading Yard! First time I've seen a priority train use this routing. Train 2 is local H49, heading through the woods past mile 53 with a beautiful conrail GP40-2 up front. I even get a toot of the great RS3L as the train approaches the signals. Train 3 is the second re-route is train 38G, seen running over the Turkey Path through Gibraltar, north of Birdsboro. Though this route is mainly a quarry line, through freights occasionally use it to bypass trackwork. The double bells on the crossing are a nice treat as the train cruises though on a 25 mph speed restriction behind two GEVOs. Also, note the interesting sound coming from the train as the string of flatcars passes. Next is a shot of the signal in the woods- 532E, showing clear for 38G. Finally, we have another shot of 38G, this time on the main line at mile 53. Back on the main, the engineer is able to open up the throttle, and the dash 9s up front are roaring as the train rushes through the woods. Enjoy the action, and please rate, comment, and subscribe!
