| Video Discription | The Erin Moore Trail is a 7 km and 500m elevation gain loop trail that starts from the top of Oceanview Drive in Lions Bay. Previously named the Lonetree Creek Trail, the trail was renamed in 2015 to honor the life of Erin Kate Moore who passed away in the area in a rockslide. She was 7 years old at the time of her passing and I remember hearing of this heartbreaking story 6 years ago. More can be read in her memory at the blog below: http://erinkatemoore.weebly.com/ The trail only has 3 parking spots at the top and is relatively quietly trafficked for the area due to this. The trailhead also serves the steep ascent to Mount Unnecessary above, and an unofficial trail that continues onwards to Horshoebay. We hiked the trail only running into one group at the viewpoint before heading back. Total hiking time was 3 hours, with endless stops looking at the countless views along the way and the fantastic old growth trees. The trail is rated as moderate/difficult due to some slippery sections and steep drainages that are crossed. Budget 4 hours and bring all the ten essentials. For the average hiker looking for views, I would recommend not doing this trail and heading to the more popular and well trafficked Tunnel Bluffs. I will be spending 2021 publishing more short videos of my adventures throughout the North Shore mountains and completing in the Bagger Challenge.
