In this lecture on negative kritiks of health, Nae breaks down what he thinks are the five pillars that you should be kritiking on the resolution. This video will break down the 5 pillars of criticizing the idea of preserving health, instituting single payer, and care from a governmental and/or financial point of view. 1. Kritiks of Life - criticizing having a good life because living the good life comes at the cost of other populations. Drugs, pharmaceuticals, innovation, and the like all come from somewhere and likely extract resources from marginalized populations. The preservations of life preserves certain good lives. A great example is Covid-19 where "everyone" was locked down and shutdown, but some people like grocery store workers, still had to go to work and paid for it with their lives. 2. Kritiks of human - criticizing how health care works to access human modification and how health care can act not only as a cure, but stopping human mistakes. In the context of disease, how does identifying someone as not able bodied and having a single system for "resolving" this might be problematic. 3. Criticizing care - Beyond just that access to care does not actually equal care, but also how doctors treat patients and how the professionalization of care disincentives community based care. 4. Kritiks of Surveillance and Data - the idea of streamlining access to data and patient records such as medical hotspotting in the context of disease decontextualizes the root of the problem that produced the disease in the first place. This allows for the production of communities that are seen as dirty and sacrificial and deserving of more policing. 5. The kritik of democratic innocence - criticizing the idea that single payer could drive america towards socialist or be an anti-capitalist movement. Regardless of what specific Kritik you plan on reading this fall, these 5 pillars of criticizing the idea of preserving health, instituting single payer, care from a governmental or financial point of view will be helpful because a lot of kritiks will draw from the same core link ground.
