| Video Discription | In 2009 the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), with the help of sports prototype manufacturer Oreca, created a new, independent racing series known as the Formula Le Mans Cup in order to launch young, gentlemen and upcoming drivers into the world of endurance racing. The car born for this championship was called FLM-09 and it was based on Courage LC75 LMP2 chassis, from which the external design was taken too but in a simplified version. All the FLM-09s are powered by a restricted N/A 6.2-liter GM LS3 V8 engine, producing around 430 hp and 630 Nm of torque (900 kgs minimum weight of the car), linked to a six-speed sequential gearbox. Formula Le Mans Cup only lasted one season as a support series of the Le Mans Series weekends in Europe. Most races were one hour in length with a mandatory pit stop to allow teams to change drivers, while a season finale at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours was held for three hours. In 2010 Formula Le Mans Cup was merged into the Le Mans Series, becoming one of five categories within the series, taking part in four of the championship's races. At the end of the season a fifth event solely for FLM cars was held. The same year both ALMS and IMSA Tudor and WeatherTech series adopted the Formula Le Mans category which was allowed for all the rounds of the championships. The class was called Le Mans Prototype Challenge and it became very popular for multiple seasons until 2017. All ACO series adopted the name Le Mans Prototype Challenge too in 2012. This video is about two Oreca FLM-09s I saw racing during various rounds of the Masters Endurance Racing championship both in 2018 and 2019.
