| Video Discription | I wrote this song like, a long ass time ago. I remember the narrative inspiration for it, and it’s also why it’s so oddly specific in its lyrics lol Anyways the main emotion I had in mind for this song was essentially someone who was ridden with envy and jealousy lovebombing the hell out of the people around them, those very people being the ones that they both admired and resented The delivery of thing song has, to me, always felt like if someone decided to give a toast/speech in front of all their loved ones, about all their loved ones, and it essentially becomes this heated and sickly sweet slew of praises and congratulating, delivered through a strained and tight lipped smile as they try to resist the near-physical urge to cry, and through their delivery it’s quite clear that they’re not only suffocating in their own words, but they are angry, hurt, and venomous— not by the people around them but by how little they feel compared to them. Basically, someone drives themself crazy cause of that saying “Comparison is the theft of joy” It’s not really for a particular story or set of characters by now, like it was made very specifically for a set of characters at the time but that time has passed and those characters have more or less matured throughout their ongoing narrative. It’s more of a memory and a product of its time by now, but that doesn’t mean the song won’t get sung for funsies ✨ Anyways, hope you like it!
