The scourge of flying-fox rescuers across Australia, large aperture anti bird netting is used to protect backyard fruit trees against predation from birds, bats and possums. Sadly many flying-foxes are trapped and many die when unsafe netting is used. Happily on this occasion, we rescued two batties out of the one netted tree and both will be released back to the wild following time in care. Please never use any netting you can poke a finger through as it is extremely dangerous to all wildlife. Instead choose shade cloth type netting. www.facebook.com/BatzillatheBat/ |
