| Video Discription | Bonjour everyone, looking at these early 19th century "antiques" will help you hone your eye as a collector. Outside of the realm of antiques and their historic relevance, we see that the best timeless pieces are compelling, skillful expressions of beauty, or art simply put. It is this timeless quality that makes a period piece universally appealing and very different than something we like simply for the charm of the past. These are high quality fine domestic models, unusual and interesting examples of the key, iconic models of the day. All of these French period pieces are in mahogany, mahogany veneer applied to frames made of a wood more suitable for construction, and they feature various marble tops. We have two pyramidal tripod models from the French empire period, more to the tune of the first 15 years of the 1800s, then we have one exceptional lotus flower baluster model (rarely seen and the most expensive), then we have an unusually large example of the typical Louis-philippe period lions claw table with a gadrooned baluster and a white marble. As usual, this video seeks to preserve these pieces online and to share them with everyone so that we can all use them as comparisons in our own collecting, so that we can better discern between any old "antique" and these true works of decorative art (which this channel continues to stress usual predate the year 1840).
