| Video Discription | Philip Lane - b 1950 - British Composer of mainly light classical and folk style music, T.V and Film themes. 'Ladies of Pleasure' on this video is from the 'Suite of Cotswold Folk dances' composed 1978. Philip Lane notably wrote the unofficial theme music of the 'BBC Concert Orchestra' - 'London Salute', and the popular BBC Children's Television, 'Captain Pugwash' jaunty theme tune. Also recently composed music for commentaries by Steven Fry and Carol Anne Duffy. His recent television scores include: The Merchant of Venice and 'Sir Thomas More'. His film scores include 'Goodbye Mr Chips' he has also done work reviving the scores of various other movies, originals by other composers. The lovely colourful paintings by Alfred Quinton 1853 - 1934 show a little more of a sadly bygone rural England and of a peaceful, green and pleasant land. All was changing even in 1912 when 'The Cottages and The Village Life of Rural England' by P.H Ditchfiled M.A was first published. Enjoy the combination of lovely retrospective art and music.
